DAY 1: TARANGIRE NATIONAL PARK
After breakfast in Arusha, drive to Tarangire to discover the giant termite mounds and baobab trees of Tarangire. This park is famous for its large elephant population, scenery and diversity of birdlife. Overnight at Paradise Campsite, located just outside the park boundaries. Tarangire’s wildlife includes elephant, lion, giraffe, warthog, ostrich, impala and baboon.
DAY 2: TARANGIRE TO NGORONGORO CONSERVATION AREA
Spend the morning in Tarangire. Return to the campsite for lunch at 12pm. At 2pm, leave the Crater for Nainokanoka Campsite, the starting point for your Ngorongoro Highlands hike. Resident Crater wildlife includes lion, hyena, elephant, wildebeest, zebra, black rhinoceros, flamingo, hippopotamus, and cheetah.
DAY 3: NAINOKANOKA TO EMBULBUL COMPASITE – WALKING SAFARI
After breakfast, hike to Embulbul Campsite. Hike for four to six hours eating lunch along the way. Dinner and overnight at Embulbul.
DAY 4: EMBULBUL COMPASITE TO EMPAKAI CRATER
After breakfast, begin the day’s hike. This day of hiking will be approximately four hours. Hike through hilly terrain passing several Maasai villages along the way. You’ll arrive at the Empakai Campsite in time for lunch. In the afternoon, hike into the Crater or relax at the campsite.
DAY 5: EMPAKAI TO NGORONGORO CRATER
At 8am, leave the campsite for Ngorongoro Crater. Arrive at the Crater at approximately 10am and go on a six hour game drive on the Crater floor. The largest unbroken caldera in the world, Ngorongoro has an area of 260 kilometers and a depth of 610 meters. The crater provides a protected habitat for thousands of mammals and birds. After the game drive, proceed to Simba Campsite, overlooking the Crater.
DAY 6: NGORONGORO CONSERVATION AREA TO SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK
Leave Simba Campsite at 8am for Serengeti National Park. Game drive along the way to Ikoma Bush Camp, your day five destination. Arrive at the campsite at 6:30pm.
DAY 7: SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK TO MAASAI MARA NATIONAL PARK
Leave Ikoma Bush Camp at 8am for the Maasai Mara. The drive to Maasai Mara will take almost the full day, and you will pass through game controlled areas and many villages along the way. Arrive at Oloololo Campsite on the border of the Maasai Mara in the early evening.
DAY 8: MAASAI MARA
Leave the campsite at 8am for a full day game drive in Maasai Mara. Eat a packed lunch in the park. Dinner and overnight at the Mara River Campsite. The wildebeest migration should be located in the Maasai Mara from October through November, along with the many predators that follow it.
DAY 9: MAASAI MARA
Leave the campsite at 6:30am for an early morning game drive. Return to the campsite at 12pm for lunch and a brief rest. Continue on a game drive from 3pm until 6:30pm
DAY 10: MAASAI MARA TO NAIROBI
Depart the campsite for a final game drive in the park. After the game drive, leave for Nairobi and your international flight home.
